Peskov says unaware of rumors on resignation of cbank chairwoman

MOSCOW, Mar 9 (PRIME) -- The Kremlin is unaware of rumors about resignation of Russian Central Bank Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Wednesday.

“No, we know nothing about it. The president has many times praised the central bank’s operations,” he said.

In the next few hours, the government will unveil restrictions on Russia’s imports and exports of raw materials and resources, Peskov also said.

“There are lists to be approved and compiled by the government. Within the next few hours. But the principle is simple, plenty of raw materials for various production chains have been transported into Russia,” he said.

“Some companies suspended their contracts, and a ban was imposed on exports of such materials. But again, the list will be elaborated by the government.”

The government sees fight against unemployment among its top priority tasks, and will announce the support measures soon, Peskov said, adding that he hopes that “not millions of people will lose their jobs, but a smaller amount.”

The government is considering various scenarios of retaliation to the sanctions, Peskov said when asked about the possibility of nationalization of foreign companies that are leaving the country.

Peskov is sure that Russia remains a reliable guarantor of the global energy security and appreciates its reputation, but “the hostile bacchanalia organized by the collective West makes the situation very difficult and forces us to think it over thoroughly.”
